In January 2005 the
Northern Media Culture Association Magneetti was set up by
Minna Rainio, Mark Roberts and Jetta Huttunen. The principle aim
of the association is to promote, plan and
establish the Magneetti Contemporary Art and Media Culture Center
project.
Magneetti's objectives are to promote northern media culture
and contemporary art, create networks between artists and create
an active network of contemporary arts in Lapland and Barents area.
It aims to do this by setting up a
new center for contemporary art and media culture in the city of
Rovaniemi
in
Finnish Lapland. Magneetti will exist as an
exciting new space for the organization of various interdisciplinerary
media culture and contemporary
art
events
You can join the organisation as a member after it has been officially
registered during the first half of 2005. The membership fee will
be 10-20 euros. If you would like to keep up-to-date on the status
of the project, or to receive notification of any other related activities,
you can join the mailing list.
The organisation is run by a board comprised of the following
elected members for the period 2005-2006:
